Post Hike Yoga Retreat:

3 night all inclusive Yoga retreat in the Hills of Kathmandu to stretch rest, refresh and reflect on the life changing experience we just had together. Includes twice daily yoga & meditation, massage, and meals.

So much more than a bucket list trip- this is a life experience and trip that you’ll remember forever.

Be prepared to be challenged and changed from this trip.

Hike with 360degree mountain views, completely immersed in nature and Nepalese/sherpa culture walking in the footsteps of legends.

Give & Take. An adventure of a lifetime, you’ll gain so much from this trip whilst giving to the local communities too. The trek is a interaction with the land and culture of Nepal. Supporting local communities, we will be guided by Nepalese Sherpa ‘LP’ whom has over 30 years experience hiking in the region along with Assistant guide and porters. Trekking for charity, we will be raising money for local Nepalese Charity Sathi Sansar; supporting families with Cerebral Palsy and other LDD’s in Nepal. Last trek & retreat we were able to make a big difference to this small charity, raising more than $8,000.

Small group: Minimum 8 trekkers, max 12 trekkers. *option to just join for the retreat at the end.

Is this trip for me?

Physical Effort: 7/10. High Altitude hiking, Steep terrain at times (both up and down). 8km-18km hiking days. No hiking experience necessary however if you choose to join it is recommended getting used to walking inclines and getting physically fit. Its hard to really prepare for altitude- hiking at altitude is all about taking it slow, not pushing too hard or ascending too quickly. Our local guides and I will look after you with our well thought itinerary, acclimatisation days and altitude tips and tricks. If you show signs of serious altitude sickness you will be evacuated immediately.
Highest altitude on itinerary: 5643m

Lush Level: Accomodation and facilities are BASIC. This is not an ‘all inclusive luxury holiday’ but an authentic hike through the HImalayas, staying at local, (mostly) clean but basic teahouses. No tents or camping, Rooms are usually twin share consisting of single beds and thats about it- No heating, No princesses or princes,

Be challenged and changed from this adventure of a lifetime with likeminded, adventurous spirits.

Additional notes:

Porters. You will be carrying between 6-11kg in your own backpack depending on how frugal your packing skills are. I will hire 2-3 porters for the group. When i first did the trek with just me and LP, I did not use a porter and carried everything on my own back which surprised me how fine it was.
However, in a group scenario it is worthwhile getting porters. They are extremely friendly, act as back up assistant guides to anyone suffering from fatigue or altitude sickness. If you are particularly worried about your ability to carry your own bag we can discuss this and you can potentially hire an extra personal porter for $22USD per day. There is a lot of controversy around porters. I have organised the trek so we are paying them above their usual wage and make sure they are treated well and do not exceed their maximum load.

Water: theres an unlimited supply of amazing fresh mountain water at all the teahouses. I didnt buy one single plastic water bottle whilst trekking. The tap water is easily purified with water purification tablets or lifesticks. I simply refilled my water bottles at every teahouse along the way and used tablets to purify. During the trek we will try to leave as little waste behind as possible and create as little waste as possible. I will send more info about this to anyone/everyone who pays a deposit and books the trek. Bottled water is available to purchase along the trek for those seriously concerned.

A little more on altitude: Many of the meditations and group discussion will be based around this concept of mindfulness, non striving, non attachment and self compassion/care. Some hikers take Diamox a altitude sickness tablet throughout the hike although LP and I do no recommend it (although its not bad). Proper diet and mindfulness should be all you need to manage altitude sickness safely. That being said, altitude sickness can affect anyone regardless of age or level of fitness. You can read up a little more on altitude sickness online (but be careful of the internet scaring you silly!)

Travel dates: Cloud and turbulent weather is a regular phenomenon along the Himalayan range. It is possible that domestic flights from Kathmandu to/from Lukla may have to be delayed for a few hours or even cancelled for a day or more. Fortunately this does not happen frequently during the high seasons of March to May or September to November: but you need to plan for this possibility.
